Big Red Balls of Doom

Indy's most challenging challenge
Finally a break from the science fiction! Total Wipeout (or just plain Wipeout in the US) is one of those shows that is a real guilty pleasure to watch. It shouldn't be as funny as it is to watch people falling over and getting knocked down, but everyone enjoys seeing it anyway. So I was wondering just what it would take to make it over the big red balls when I suddenly realised. It would take Indiana Jones.

This is one of those drawings that was pretty much complete in my head as soon as I had the idea. Then it was just a case of getting it down.

As usual you can find it on Society6. Check out the Doodle Dojo Store for more details.

Fire Department 451

Fire Department 451
A bit more science fiction has unexpectedly found its way onto the blog. This time its the Ray Bradbury classic Fahrenheit 451 that gets the treatment. In case you haven't read it, this is a story about a fireman called Montag. The world he lives in has a very different use for firemen though. With all the houses safely fireproofed, they are instead used to protect the people from the dangers of books. Montag comes to realise that this might not be the best way to live, thanks partly to a girl and, well, go and read it. Its a good story!

If you want to get hold of something with this badge on it to show your true sci-fi geekiness, head over to Society6 or Redbubble. All the details are on the Doodle Dojo Store.

Flying Needs Votes on GoodJoe

Flying. Vote for it on Goodjoe
Most people daydream about being able to fly, unless you're terrified f heights I guess. I do anyway so I  drew this up as a nice dreamy vision of soaring about through a futuristic city. One day I might get bitten by a radioactive pigeon and get super powers, but until then, I'll just have to keep on dreaming!

If you've been hanging around here for ages, (there's bound to be someone!) you might remember that i submitted this design to Threadless. It scored reasonably well (thanks if you voted) but it didn't get printed. Now that the hold period is well and truly over its time to see if anyone else likes it. Goodjoe looks like a great site with lots of nice designs so that that's where its gone. If I could get a few votes over there, and with a little bit of luck, it might get printed!

Devil's Tower Spaceport

Devil's Tower Spaceport Wyoming
There aren't very many natural landmarks as recognisable as Devil's Tower. I guess that's why it was used in Steven Spielberg's classic, Close Encounters of the Third Kind. I'm pretty sure that everybody has had a go at making their own mashed potato version while mumbling "I'm sure this is important somehow." When it was reused in the sci-fi tribute film Paul, its place in (fictional) space travel history was raised a little higher still. So I thought I'd make my own tribute. If you were visiting Earth in your brand new UFO for the first time what better place to start than there.
